After three nights in Fresno, Neil Young and Crazy Horse finished off their California mini-tour in Bakersfield with a two night stand that featured a number of tour debuts.

Like their previous shows, Crazy Horse (Young, guitarist Nils Lofgren, bassist Billy Talbot and percussionist Ralph Molina) played a mix of originals and Neil Young solo material. Certain songs like “Country Home,” “Don’t Cry No Tears” and “Winterlong” were repeated both nights, but each evening had multiple unique debuts.

On Saturday May 5, fans heard a double dose of “I Can Really Love” and “The Loner” both heard for the first time on this tour. The band encored Saturday night with “Love to Burn” and “Roll Another Number (For the Road).”

The following night, Crazy Horse played Young’s “Speakin’ Out” for the first time ever; the song, from Young’s 1975 studio album Tonight’s the Night , was played regularly during the singer’s days with his Santa Monica Flyers backing band. Later, the band played the tour debut of Rust Never Sleeps‘ “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)” as well as Young’s late-‘60s favorite “Down by the River.”
