On Sunday night, guitarist Steve Kimock hosted a special benefit show at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, in celebration of the upcoming birthday of activist and entertainer Wavy Gravy. Proceeds from the evening went to support his Camp Winnarainbow

As JamBase report, Kimock welcomed a band featuring his former RatDog bandmates Jeff Chimenti, Robin Sylvester and Jay Lane, and the night also featured a couple special guests in RatDog frontman/Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and Kimock’s son Miles.

Weir sat in for the entire first set, which included Dead staples like “Shakedown Street,” “Jack Straw,” “Dark Star” and “Terrapin Station,” plus a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Queen Jane Approximately” and a tune the band members had played frequently with RatDog, “Easy Answers.”

Wavy Gravy was presented with a birthday cake (his birthday falls on May 15) and lead the way on “Basic Human Needs” before the second set, which featured Miles Kimock on “One For Brother Mike,” “5B4 Funk” and the encore of Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers to Cross.”
