In a two-fold event, celebrating Taj Mahal’s 75th birthday and raising funds for for The Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF’s Benioff Children’s Hospital, Acoustic-4-A-Cure rocked The Fillmore in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 15.

Sammy Hagar and Bob Weir acted as co-hosts for the sold-out evening, welcoming musicians of all walks of life to celebrate and jam, including surprise guest Don Was.

For Weir’s set, the guitarist was joined by unlikely collaborator Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon. Cronin sat-in for Weir’s Blue Mountain number “Only a River” as well as the Weir-Wasserman tune “Easy Answers.”

Hagar, on the other hand, reunited his group Chickenfoot for a few tunes, namely “Big Foot,” Sexy Little Thing,” “Something Going Wrong” and “Oh Yeah.”

In the video below, Hagar, Mahal, Weir, Don Was, Joe Satriani, Chad Smith, Michael Anthony, Kevin Cronin and Vic Johnson make up an all-star jam of the Otis Redding classic “The Dock of the Bay.”
