As his main band continues its hiatus in 2018, My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James kicked off a new era in his solo career last night with an intimate show at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade that saw James preview his upcoming solo effort Uniform Distortion in full.

James offered a full-band rendition of each of the album’s 11 tracks, which include “Throwback (When We Were Young),” a tune that MMJ has played live a few times before. Fans at the show were required to place their phones and recording devices in Yondr pouches prior to the performance.

For the encore, James and company ran through a selection of songs from his previous two solo albums, “Here In Spirit” and “Same Old Lie” from 2016’s Eternally Even and “A New Life” and “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.)” from 2013’s Regions of Light and Sound of God.

See the full setlist below.

Next up for James is a show supporting Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters at Berkeley, CA’s Greek Theatre on June 21, then another intimate Uniform Distortion gig at LA’s Pico Union on July 18.
