The 11th annual DelFest kicked off on Thursday in Cumberland, MD, featuring performances from California Honeydrops, Rhiannon Giddens, Fruition, The Lil Smokies and Del McCoury himself, plus a The Infamous Stringdusters, who welcomed a couple special guests to honor the birthday of a folk legend.

McCoury started out the festivities with an open soundcheck, while Giddens later peppered her set with covers of icons like Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton.

Before the late-night sets from Fruition and the Smokies, The Stringdusters took the stage for the headlining set, which saw the bluegrass outfit welcome Ronnie McCoury and his Travelin’ McCoury’s bandmate Cody Kilby for a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” to celebrate the legend’s 77th birthday yesterday.

DelFest continues today, while both Del McCoury and The Travelin’ McCourys have albums that dropped today: Del McCoury Still Sings Bluegrass and The Travelin’ McCourys.
