On Saturday night, country legend Willie Nelson was slated to perform at his traveling Outlaw Music Festival at Charlotte, NC’s PNC Music Pavilion, but the musician never got to perform, instead exiting the stage just as he had put on his acoustic guitar and flinging his cowboy hat into the audience with what seemed like frustrated anger.

As Billboard reports, Nelson’s exit was apparently after his second attempt to start his performance, and some fans complained about waiting around for up to an hour before it was confirmed that Nelson would be cancelling the show “due to illness” and that fans should hold onto their tickets for a rescheduled date. Saturday’s Outlaw Fest iteration was already low on performers, as both Elvis Costello and Brandi Carlile had previously pulled out.

Nelson has canceled several concerts do to illness and flu in recent years, including a show earlier this year where the singer left the stage early while performing with his songs. However, Nelson did perform on Sunday night at The Anthem in Washington, DC.

Below, watch a clip of Nelson’s stage exit on Saturday night.
