On Wednesday, July 18, PhanArt held their first art showcase of Summer 2018 in Lake Tahoe, Nev., and reached a major milestone in their 10+ year history.

PhanArt was founded in 2004 as a way for artists and music fans to buy and sell their Phish-themed wares. Their Lake Tahoe show marked the first time ever that the show’s roster of artists featured an equal number of men and women.

Phanart founder Pete Mason called the show a “rousing success” adding that it “brought out a great deal of small businesses, an increasing number of which are led by female artists and entrepreneurs.”

Of the 24 artist selling their work in Lake Tahoe, 12 were female. Mason says equal representation is an important step in showcasing the broad spectrum of Phish fans. “Bringing these artists and businesses to fans continues to show that this is an incredibly diverse, creative and inspired scene,” Mason says.
