Today we look back to January 15, 2005.

10th Birthday Party for HGMN

The Home Grown Music Network is celebrating its tenth year this coming April with a show in its native North Carolina. The organization has tapped Green Lemon and SeepeopleS to perform at the event which is scheduled for the Pour House in Raleigh, NC on April 2. Jambands.com has a longstanding relationship with Lee Crumptons Network: its monthly sale charts originally were created for this site, and the Homegrown Happenings section was a staple here for many years.

Introducing the South Mississippi Rejects

An intriguing show will take place tomorrow night at the Peachtree Tavern in Atlanta. Taking the stage will be the South Mississippi Rejects. Not only is the name a clear inverted riff on North Mississippi Allstars but the group is billed as featuring members thereof (of which at last count there were but three). NMASs winter tour begins next week on February 3 at Appalachian Sate University in Boone, NC.

Lundi Gras with Papa Grows Funk

New Orleans-based Papa Grows Funk will celebrate in the Crescent City during the areas early February festivities. These shows will be part of a tour that opens this coming Friday in Austin at the Parish. The group will then be on the road over the ensuing two weeks with the final confirmed date on February 12 at New Yorks Bowery Ballroom. In between, the band will route back to its home city for two shows around Mardi Gras, on Monday the 7th at the Maple Leaf and on samedi the 5th at Howlin Wolf.

Quagmire Swim Team’s ‘Inauguration Ball’

This past November Quagmire Swim Team drummer Brian Trump departed and in the intervening months the QST has been working towards bringing in another full-time member. The group has just announced that Marshall Deasy, who some may know through his role as recording engineer for Stress Free Studios in Harrisburg, PA, will join the Team. The band will officially induct Deasy at an ‘Inauguration Ball’ at Gullifty’s in Camp Hill, PA on Friday, February 4th. The following night, Quagmire Swim Team will headline a day-long Make A Wish Foundation benefit concert at Ski Roundtop in Lancaster, PA.
