Who is That Familiar Face Hitting It With COC?

Galactic drummer Stanton Moore, who appears on the latest Corrosion of Conformity disc In The Arms Of God, is currently on the road with the group. Moore who is wrapping up a brief COC run will appear with the band tonight in Buffalo, NY at The Buffalo Icon. Following a trip down to Bonnaroo and an appearance with Galactic he will rejoin Corrosion in the south and later pick it up out west.

Steve Kimock Joins DSO

The Dark Star Orchestra wrapped up the second of two shows at New Jerseys Mexicali Blues Cafy once again bringing on a guest guitarist/. Steve Kimock took the stage throughout the night during which the group performed an original setlist of Grateful Dead material rather than recreate a show. Rob Barraco will continue to tour with the group through the end of the tour.

Seals, Kemper and Jones To Tour Again

Melvin Seals will reunite with longstanding Jerry Garcia Band bandmates David Kemper (drums) and Gloria Jones (vocals) for a run of shows that will mark the ten year anniversary of Garcia’s passing. The JGB tour will open on June 17 in Laytonville, CA (Summer Sun at Area 101) and continue through July, routing from the west coast to the Midwest before finishing in the east. Joining the three for these shows will be Stu Allen (guitar/vocals), Marty Holland (bass), and Shirley Starks.

Solo Medeski

John Medeski appear in a rare solo setting on September 1. The MMW keyboardist will appear on piano at Chicago’s Symphony Center for the opening night of The Chicago Jazz Festival. Also on the bill is Louis Hayes and the Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band, and Joe Zawinuls project The Zawinul Syndicate. Billed as Three Generations of Jazz the show also will commemorate the 70th anniversary(!) of DownBeat magazine.
