The Mimi Fishman Foundation issued two grants today. The Foundation gave $2,500 to the Delta Gamma Center, a St. Louis-based charity that helps children with visual impairment. A grant of $500 was also given to the California Environmental Project, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and protection of California’s wildlands. More grants will be issued next month.
The Mimi Fishman Foundation was founded in 1999 by Mimi (mother of Phish drummer Jon Fishman) and David Shulman as a way to raise funds for certain charities, such as The American Glaucoma Society and The Boulder County Safehouse. After Mimi passed away in early 2001, the Foundation continued on in her honor. Through benefit concerts and online auctions, more than $23,000 in grants has been issued in the past two and a half years.
