Widespread Panic has announced its fall tour, which kicks off with a three-night stand at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, October 31 – November 2. Guitarist George McConnell and saxophonist Randall Bramblett will perform with the band for the entire tour. The itinerary includes dates in Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee.
In other news, Michael Housers solo album, Door Harp, will be released on September 24. The CD was recorded earlier this year Athens, GA. These songs are the ones I’ve played on my own, at home, for years, said Michael, who passed away on August 10. They are simple and calming. I wanted to record these songs in a minimalist and quiet way that was true to their nature. The album also features Domingo Ortiz on percussion; John Keane on pedal steel, keyboards and guitar; Wayne Postell on trumpet; Andy Carlson on violin and David Henry on cello.
In October, Widespread Panics film The Earth Will Swallow You will be released on VHS and DVD through Sweetwater Productions. For more information, visit www.wpmovie.com.
