Vocalist Mavis Staples took the stage with Widespread Panic Saturday at Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN. Staples (The Staples Sisters) added vocals to the first song of the second set, Hope in a Hopeless World.
The Staples Sisters repertoire includes a 1967 cover of Buffalo Springfield’s For What Its Worth. The band also appeared on the 1996 compilation album Rhythm Country & Blues, which featured artists such as Al Green, Lyle Lovett, Patti LaBelle and Chet Atkins.
