Tim OBrien has announced plans to stage a series of peace concerts in Nashville. The first show will take place at the Belcourt Theater on Wednesday, March 12 with sets by OBrien, Bela Fleck and Maura OConnel as well as special guests. Proceeds will benefit the Nashville Peace and Justice Center. Of Course, my hope with these concerts is to make some noise on behalf of a peaceful solution to the war on terror, and a peaceful alternative to an invasion of Iraq, says OBrien. The steamroller of the Bush administration’s war plans may not slow soon, but there’s no time like the present to apply some contrary motion. I’m asking my fellow musicians around the country and the world to try a similar approach in their own localities. My dream is for our collective voice to grow into a roar that cannot be ignored. Plans are also underway for a benefit show on April 9.
