Legendary bassist Joey Arkenstat is currently soliciting votes for his songwriting contest, which began back at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in June. For those three days, attendees were invited to stop by Joeys tent and exchange lyrical ideas with the greasy-haired musician. The rules were as follows:
Contestants had one minute to write a song, alternating lines of lyric with Joey. An Hour Glass was used to mark the one minute time frame. If you’ve written a song that’s appeared on an album that has been in the Billboard 200 (both past and future lists), you could not play the game. [They’re] not suckers. For obvious reasons, contestants were not allowed to be chewing gum. No red pens were allowed. For your own safety, lyrics could not contain the word ‘douche-bag.’
Now, fans have an opportunity to vote on their favorite song at www.joeyarkenstat.com. The winning song will be performed by Joey and friends and will be available on Joey’s website (while you’re there, be sure to check out the new Snifpage technology).

Arkenstat, who appears in Mike Gordons film, Rising Low, plugged in with Govt Mule at the bands New Years Eve show last year at the Beacon Theater in New York City.
