On Tuesday, RANA released Subject To Change, a new album of live
recordings made at shows over the course of the past two months. The
collection includes ‘Smile,’ an older jam-heavy multi-sectioned epic
recently dusted off by the group. The disc will be available at RANA events
and through their web site, RANArock.com. On Wednesday, the band received a

sudden last-minute invitation to open for the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd at
New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Reactions by Skynyrd’s notoriously rowdy
fans to the quartet’s 40 minute set were mixed. Some held lighters aloft
during ‘Sad and Lonesome’ and pumped their fists furiously during Scott
Metzger’s guitar solos. Others booed loudly and shouted for Skynyrd. No
members of RANA were harmed. Reporting by Jesse Jarnow
