Leftover Salmon has confirmed a stretch of tour dates from January 28 through February 24. The tour will open in Petaluma, CA at the Mystic Theater and eventually travel up the west coast before heading into Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. The band will then return to Colorado for a number of shows in its home state. Given the potentially hazardous winter weather all of this is quite impressive (yet old hat for Leftover which regularly hits the road at this time of time). Meanwhile, the band’s Nashville NYE Getaway giveaway (in conjunction with its December 31 performance with the Del McCoury band at the Ryman Auditorium) will close out on Wednesday…..

A multitude of guests joined Sam Kininger for his album release party in Cambridge last night. Sams set was broken into four sections, each with a different drummer from one of Sams many bands. Nikki Glaspie, Kiningers regular drummer, played first, followed by Charles Haynes (The Squad), Adam Deitch (Lettuce, John Scofield Band), and Alan Evans (Soulive). Other guests included guitarists Adam Smirnoff (Lettuce) and Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce), bassist Chris Loftin, percussionist Atticus Cole and Mister Rourke, who spun throughout the entire show, and between line-up changes. Horns were also in abundance as Kininger was also joined by Ryan Zoidis (Lettuce, Soulive Horns) on tenor sax, Chemea Gastelum (2oth Congress), and the Boston Horns. While the show showcased the music on Kiningers new CD, it closed with a mini Soulive set of Tuesday Night Squad and Do It Again, featuring Deitch on drums, and Alan Evans on vocals. Kininger, along with Gastelum, also sat in with The Duo on The Big Whopper during their opening set. Reporting by Dan Alford…..
Bill Kretuzmann’s digital art will be exhibited at the Oakland Airport Hilton on December 30. The drummer, who spoke a bit about his efforts as part of the Jambands.com Dead Summer Getaway Diaries, will gig later that evening with the Dead at the Oakland Arena opening the group’s two night NYE Run.
