Festival Express which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, will receive a U.S. release in 2004. The film documents the music and happenings on board the train that carried a number of artists to the Trans-Continental Pop Festival across Canada in 1970. The participants included Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, The Band, the Flying Burrito Brothers and Buddy Guy. These events led Dead lyricist Robert Hunter to write the lyrics to Might As Well which the band debuted in 1976. The footage from the Festival Express was embroiled in legal dispute for decades before its recent resolution.
