Noam Pikelny, the 23 year old banjo player who first garnered national notoriety when he became a full-time member of Leftover Salmon, has recorded his solo debut. In The Maze also features Matt Flinner on mandolin and Todd Phillips on bass (both of whom produced the disc) along with David Grier on guitar and Gabe Witcher on fiddle. Pikelny wrote eight of ten compositions on the disc, with LoS bassist Greg Garrison contributing one song and Ross Martin penning one as well. Pikelny, who will tour with both Leftover Salmon and the John Cowan Band this summer, will be joined by Flinner, Garrison and Martin for an in-store performance at 6PM tonight at Bart’s CD Cellar in Boulder.
