Last night the Prescription Trio continued its brief east coast tour at New York’s BB King Blues Club. While Oteil Bubridge, who has been opening these shows with his band the Peacemakers, didnt sit in as he has done on previous nights, the Trio did expand its roster. Guitarist Melvin Sparks appeared early on beginning with Texas Shuffle, after Mike Clark noted that Sparks is from Texas and that he used to live there as well. A bit later, the ubiquitous Cochemea ‘Cheme’ Gastelum stepped up for a few songs beginning with ‘Watermelon Man.’ Earlier in the evening Burbridge was joined by Family Band keyboardist Jason Crosby throughout his set. The tour concludes this evening at Regattabar in Cambridge, MA.
