Last night the Allman Brothers Band opened its 2005 Beacon run with some new material and a new collaborator. The show which began with Sailin’ ‘Cross the Devil’s Sea, also included a new original instrumental entitled Egypt. Following the intermission the ABB performed a four song acoustic set after which it was joined by Ravi Coltrane (son of the late great sax player) on tenor for Dreams and In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. One additional point of note for those holding standing room only tickets to the forthcoming shows, the fire department turned away SRO ticket holders last night due to concerns about capacity.
