MTV Wants Matisyahu

Its a long road from Crown Heights, but Matisyahu has made it to MTV. On Wednesday, the Hassidic reggae star performed alongside the likes of Death Cab for Cutie and Go! Team at MTVUs Woodie Awards. While Matisyahu walked away empty handed, despite being nominated in three categories, the festival circuit alumnus did bring a jam-sense of collaboration to the industry oriented event, held New Yorks Roseland Ballroom. At the end of his three song set, Matisyahu invited out hip-hop poet Saul Williams on Black Stacy. Also of note, Lou Reed made a surprise appearance at the ceremony, delivering the award shows opening remarks. Matisyahu will perform after sundown tomorrow at Ft. Lauderdale, FLs Revolution. A portion of Matisyahu’s proceeds will be donated to the victims of Hurricane Wilma through Neighbors 4 Neighbors.
