Founding Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright has confirmed that he will join his longtime bandmate David Gilmour on his upcoming solo tour (which begins travels to the U.S. in April). Gilmour has confirmed 25 dates in support of his forthcoming solo album, On an Island, marking the guitarist’s first tour since Pink Floyd’s 1994 outing. In addition to Wright, Gilmour’s backing band will include bassist Guy Pratt and keyboardist Jon Carin, both veterans of Pink Floyd’s touring band, as well as drummer Steve DiStanislao (Crosby/Nash) and guitarist Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music).

While Gilmour plans to include a number of Pink Floyd staples in his setlist this spring, the guitarist also issued the following statement: ‘Since Live 8 there are certain sections of the media that have deliberately misled fans and public by inventing stories and quotes about Pink Floyd touring: Nick, Richard, Roger and I are telling fans directly that this is not happening. We are also asking the various parties who are fabricating these stories to desist, if only for the sake of the fans.’
