George Porter, Jr. recently re-entered the studio with his fellow Meters co-founder Leo Nocentelli as part of a new collective that has dubbed itself the New Orleans Social Club. The two were joined by Ivan Neville on organ, Henry Butler on piano and Raymond Weber on drums. Other guests on these Crescent City-infused sessions included Irma Thomas, Marcia Ball,
Dr. John and Troy ‘Trombone Shorty’ Andrews. The resulting disc, Sing Me Back Home, will be issued on April 4 and it is quite possible that the core band will perform some live dates as well.
