Still catching up with this past weekend’s action, Yonder Mountain String Band performed

two memorable nights at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH. Tim O’Brien fresh
off his Grammy win for Traditional Folk Album (_Fiddler’s Green_)
opened both shows with Cornbread Nation. On both evenings O’Brien and Cornbread
Nation banjo player Danny Barnes (Bad Livers) sat in for the opening of the second
set. On Friday, the pair appeared for a stretch that included ‘Redbird,’
‘Death Trip,’ ‘Tombstone Blues,’ ‘Girlfriend Is Better,’
and ‘Holding.’ The next night they were both on hand for ‘Going
Where They Do Not Know My Name,’
‘Kentucky Mandolin,’ ‘Roll On Blues,’ ‘Fun Time,’
‘Whipping Post’ and ‘Crow Black Chicken.’ Yonder is now off
the road until it resumes touring in mid-April.
