John Scofield will join Phil Lesh on the road this spring, marking his first appearance with the Grateful Dead bassist since last December. Scofield will perform with Lesh at San Francisco’s Warfield on May 18 and 17, as well as at Bonnaroo on June 18. Scofield has also confirmed that he will join Lesh for a series of additional June performances, though both camps remain mum on the exact details of their summer outing. In other Lesh news, saxophonist Greg Osby has confirmed that he will tour with the bassist from June 28-July 21, with G.R.A.B., the new union of Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Marco Benevento and Joe Russo, likely supplying support duties for the majority of these dates. While the exact makeup of Lesh’s touring lineup remains a mystery, over the past week, Lesh has performed with a number of his former ‘Friends.’ On April 22, Lesh and Dave Ellis joined Chris and Rich Robinson at San Francisco’s Bimbo’s 365 Club for a number of tunes, including ‘Loser’ and ‘The Wheel.’ On April 24 and 26, Lesh also joined Ryan Adams in Portland and San Francisco, before performing a stealth show at 12 Galaxies late Thursday night. Lesh’s entire tour itinerary will be announced tomorrow.
