As weve mentioned, tonight at 6:45PM the Columbus Theater will screen Wetlands Preserved: The Story of an Activist Rock Club as part of the Rhode Island International Film Festival. The clubs founder Larry Bloch will be on hand for the screening and a Q and A session following the film. In addition, following Blochs conversation, interested folks will have an opportunity to win an archival club poster, a copy of the 1998 Jambands book which features an extended essay on the club or the film’s Ziegfeld premiere poster. A drawing will take place at the end of the event, with the films director (your site editor) Dean Budnick distributing entry forms and Bloch then selecting the winners (so if you’re on hand and wish to participate, step forward following the Q and A).

Wetlands Preserved, which has been identified as one the festival’s ‘signature films,’ incorporates archival footage, soundboard recordings and the efforts of a dozen digital animators to chronicle the clubs tenure from February 1989 through September 2001. Wetlands Preserved features music from Phish, Blues Traveler, moe., The Disco Biscuits, Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, Ben Harper, Spearhead, 311, Ani DiFranco, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Spin Doctors, Fishbone, Agnostic Front and many additional artists.
