Next Monday at New York Citys Tonic, a benefit will take place in support of Kermit Driscoll. The bassist studied with Jaco Pastorius in the early 1970’s before entering the Berklee School of Music, where he met Bill Frisell and they formed a celebrated quartet with Joey Baron (drums) and Hank Roberts (cello). Driscoll is currently suffering from third stage Lyme Disease resulting from a tick bite in the mid-90s which has prevented him from pursuing his music. Bill Frisells 858 Quartet, John Zorn, John Patitucci and Refuge Trio are among the artists will perform at the benefit show at Tonic on the 29th.
Those who are unable to attend may still make donations to Kermit Driscoll via his Musicians Union – Local 802 by writing a check to the Emergency Relief Fund and writing ‘Kermit Driscoll’ in the memo line. Checks may be sent to Bill Dennison, Local 802, 322 West 48th Street, New York, NY 10036. Contributions are tax deductible.
