Unbeknownst to most, the original incarnation of Brothers Past actually featured a pair of, um, brothers: Tom and Jim Hamilton. Since then, the former New Groove of the Month has gone through several personnel changes, eventually settling on a permanent lineup which now includes guitarist Tom Hamilton, keyboardist Tom McKee, bassist Clay Parnell, and drummer Ilya Stemkovsky (the Hamiltons, meanwhile, still perform together in American Babies). Over the weekend, however, the original Brothers Past lineup reunited to play the wedding of veteran Disco Biscuits sound engineer Jon Lesser to longtime squeeze Lisa Klein. For the occasion, Brothers Past learned the traditional Jewish song Hava Nagila and recruited a pair of guest vocalists, Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner and former Disco Biscuits operations manager Dan Berkowitz, to help them through the number. Brothers Past also dusted off a number of now rare Allman Brothers Band and Grateful Dead covers from the quartets early days.

The Disco Biscuits will perform at Providence, RIs Lupos on May 16, while Brothers Past will perform at Baltimore, MDs Sonar on May 12.
