Late last week, the surviving members of Pink Floyd all took the stage at Londons Barbican Centre for Madcap’s Last Laugh, a night of music in honor of the late Syd Barrett. Unlike the Pink Floyd reunion at Live 8, however, the four musicians did not regroup to perform any classic Floyd material. Instead Roger Waters appeared early in the evening with Jon Carin to offer his own Flickering Flame, while David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright interpreted Barretts Arnold Layne towards the end of the night. Other participants included Robyn Hitchcock, John Paul Jones and Ruby Wright who played Gigolo Aunt, Chrissie Hynde and Adam Seymour who performed Dark Globe (Wouldn’t You Miss Me) and Late Night and Damon Albarn, Kate St John and David Coulter who presented The Word Song. At the close of evening, all of the musicians, with the exception of Waters emerged for an rendition of Barretts Bike.
