Santa Rosa, CAs Harmony Festival continued to move into the jam-rock realm, boasting performances by moe., Umphreys McGee, ALO, New Monsoon, STS9, Hot Buttered Rum, the Waybacks, Steve Kimock and New Mastersounds from Friday through Sunday. The 29th annual festival, which has touched upon a number of genres over the years, also featured performances by Brian Wilson, the Roots, Common and Erykah Badu, among others. Kimock performed a set with a special version of Banyan, featuring Stephen Perkins, Rob Wasserman, Willie Waldman and special guest Melvin Seals. Both Perkins and Waldman, who have collaborated with moe. on occasion over the past year, jammed with the group during its late night set on a cover of the Rolling Stones Can’t You Hear Me Knocking. Jazz guitarist Mike Stern played a full 90 minute set with New Monsoon, including choice versions of New Monsoons Greenhouse, Band of Gypsies’ Who Knows and a segue connecting Sterns Texas and New Monsoons Traveling Gypsies. Stern also collaborated with ALO on a few songs, such as Possibly Drown,

Plastic Bubble, BBQ and Lady Loop, while New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts played on Country Camper. On Saturday, Garaj Mahal keyboardist Eric Levy also played keyboards with Umphreys McGee on ‘Jimmy Stewart. During Hot Buttered Rums performance, ALOs Dan Lebowitz added some auxiliary guitar, playing on Be Kind Boys and a show closing Sugaree. Sharon Gilchrist also appeared on
