Bob Weir and RatDogs summer tour with Keller Williams veered north last night for a performance at New Yorks Central Park SummerStage. During Williams set Weir took the stage for a pair of songs from the Grateful Deads songbook, ‘Bird Song and Women are Smarter.’ Later in the evening, the pair continued their collaboration when Williams jammed with RatDog on a reprise of Bird Song, as well as Franklin’s Tower. Both songs also featured frequent RatDog guest, Groove Collective trombonist Josh Roseman, who also appeared on a show closing with of U.S. Blues with keyboardist Dred Scott. Drummer Tom Pope also appeared with the group during a drum improvisational segment. Oddly enough, both Roseman and Pope played with RatDog the last time the group headlined SummerStage on September 1, 2005.

RatDog and Williams will appear at Bostons Bank of America Pavilion tonight.
