The Derek Trucks Band made the festival rounds this past weekend with performances at the Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Festival and the 10,000 Lakes Festival. The group enlisted some help for the former gig, drawing on some fellow festival performers. In particular, Trucks wife Susan Tedeschi who was on hand with her own group, appeared for much of the set, along with her sax player Ron Holloway, for such selections as I Wish I Knew, Sugar and Do Yourself A Favor. The Lee Boys Roosevelt Collier also joined in for the set-closing Joyful Noise while Trucks’ brother Duane added drums to much of the performance as well.
Aside from a performance at next weeks Crossroads Festival, the DTB will be off until the fall, as the guitarist focuses on the Allman Brothers Band. However the group already has lined up three interesting runs of shows for its return. On October 11, the Derek Trucks Band will appear in London at the Carling Academy Islington for the first night of an eight show European run that will include stops in France, Germany and Italy. Then in late November, the group will off to Japan for four performances. Finally, early December will see the group travel to Hawaii for a series of gigs.
