Over the weekend Bonerama opened for Porter Batiste and Stoltz in Denver and the two groups melded for much of the night. Bonerama’s four-trombone frontline started off the evening at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom by delivering six of its own selections with its current unit. Russell Batiste and Brian Stoltz then emerged for a version of ‘War Pigs.’ Following this, George Porter Jr. stepped up and PBS remained on stage for the remainder of Bonerama’s set, which included takes on ‘Sprung Monkey,’ ‘I Get High,’ ‘My Name Up In Lights,’ ‘Frankenstein’ and a Meters medley. On Friday, Bonerama returns to the stage at Charlotte’s Visulite Theatre. In mid-December, Bonerama’s Mark Mullins will join Porter, Stoltz and ‘Papa’ John Gros as Junco Pardners.
