Philadelphias annual Jam on the River took place over the weekend at scenic Penns Landing. The Disco Biscuits headlined the event for the sixth year in a row, anchoring a bill that included The Flaming Lips, Josh Ritter, RJD2, Bassnectar, DJ Frosty, Deadmau5, the American Babies and former New Groove of the Months Lotus and the Avett Bros. Saturdays festivities took place on Festival Pier and featured a full two-set performance by the Disco Biscuits, heavy on new songs like The City, Rockafella and Air Song. The Flaming Lips then closed out the days festivities with a slightly reworked version of their usual stage show. Newer additions to the otherwise standard Lips set included Iron Man dancer costumes and a cover of Led Zeppelins The Song Remains the Same. Before launching into the Zeppelin cover, Wayne Coyne mentioned that when he first heard the song as a pre-teen it evoked images of naked people running around everywhere and then brought a handful of naked female fans onstage. Sundays festivities at the nearby Great Plaza also featured numerous highlights, including an extended set by Lotus and a cover of Bob Dylans Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You by American Babies, though RJD2s set was cut short when his records started to melt in the sun.

On Saturday The Disco Biscuits played a sold-out night show at Philadelphias Electric Factory, bringing their performances total for the day to four sets. During the recently revived number Resurrection, local jazz-keyboardist Eric D. Wortham took the stage with the group, while Aron Magner took a rare turn behind the microphone and fronted the Biscuits.
