Last evening in New York City, Phil Lesh and Friends continued their Nokia Theater run. The group expanded for its second set with the addition of Warren Haynes on guitar. Moreover, Danny Clinch came out to add harmonica for portions of the set (last week Lesh and Jackie Greene guested with Clinch’s Tangiers Blues Band). Clinch appeared for a stretch that ran from ‘Viola Lee Blues’ into ‘Deal’ and back into ‘Viola Lee Blues.’ The sequence then carried on into ‘Death Don’t Have No Mercy’ and returned to ‘Viola Lee Blues’ which then led into a set-closing ‘Goin’ Down the Road Feelin Bad’ with Clinch on harmonica once again. Later in the evening, Lesh and Haynes participated in the HeadCount event at Highline Ballroom, where they were joined by John Medeski and Stanton Moore (stay tuned for our full report).

Phil Lesh and Friends will return to the Nokia on Thursday but before then will deliver a song on NBC’s Late Night With Conan O’Brien.
