Though our collective focus is on last nights election, lets return to Halloween for the time being. Last Friday, Blues Traveler performed at Cincinnatis Bogart’s and used the festive occasion to bust out a rare Black Cat Jam. According to the noted Blues Traveler fan site bluestraveler.net, the title of this song stems from an epic jam session late in 1986 that the band refers to as the Black Cat Jam. Many songs in their early repertoire are said to have stemmed from this jam. It has become somewhat of a tradition to play this tune on Halloween.

Blues Traveler performed the seminal jam at its Halloween shows in 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2007. The bands last non-Halloween Black Cat Jam took place way back on April 9, 1993 when the quartet stopped at New Yorks Roseland Ballroom. The group will appear at Dallas House of Blues this evening.
