Both Govt Mule and the Drive-By Truckers spent the weekend in Minneapolis. The Truckers co-headlined a pair of performances with The Hold Steady, while Govt Mule offered two shows at the Pantages Theatre with openers Back Door Slam. After performing with his band Saturday, Drive-By Truckers frontman Patterson Hood ventured over to the Pantages Theatre to sit in with Govt Mule for a cover of Neil Youngs Cortez The Killer. Hood and Warren Haynes have crossed paths a number of times over the years, and Drive-By Truckers even played the guitarists Mountain Jam this past June.

Like many shows this fall, Back Door Slam guitarist Davy Knowles also sat in with Govt Mule for a few songs this weekend, including Billy Myles Have You Ever Loved A Woman, Hound Dog Taylors Gonna Send You Back To Georgia, Al Greens Take Me To The River, Albert Kings Born Under a Bad Sign and Bob Segers Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man. Govt Mile will appear at Flagstaff, AZs Orpheum Theatre this Wednesday, while The Truckers and the Hold Steady will appear at Boise, IDs The Knitting Factory this same evening.
