Joan Osborne will play the first New Years Eve show at New Yorks City Winery. The new high-end venue is run by famed promoter Michael Dorf, who is best known for founding the Knitting Factory. Osborne will perform in support of her new studio album Little Wild One, which is a tribute of sorts to New York. The disc is also her long-awaited reunion with the team behind her smash debut album, Relish: Rick Chertoff, Rob Hyman and Eric Bazilian.

Dorf has booked a number of intriguing acts at the City Winery in 2009, including

Steve Earle & Allison Moorer (1/8), Raul Midon & Sonya Kitchell (1/9), Boz Scaggs (1/11), Suzanne Vega and Lenny Kaye (1/15) and Mike Doughty & Tony Scherr Trio (1/22). Philip Glass will also play a series of shows in the room this
coming March.
