Xylos describes itself as a co-ed, aurally adventurous five-piece orgy of pop from New York not unlike the Shins, Paul Simon and Fleetwood Mac. The group is also the brainchild of Eric Zeiler, who played in the now defunct jamband The Ally before the group parted ways in 2003. Though envisioned as a solo project, Zeiler has since fleshed out Xylos lineup with a number of additional musicians, including former Ally drummer drummer Mike Greenfield, bassist Monika Heidemann and vocalists Aaron Mendelsohn and Nikki Lancy.
The group recently released its debut EP Bedrooms, which features guest vocals by Yeasayers Ira Wolf Tuton and Anand Wilder. As some readers may recall, before reaching international indie-fame with Yeasayer Tuton played bass in The Ally. Next up, Xylos will appear at New Yorks Pianos on December 20.
