Former New Groove of the Month BuzzUniverse hosted their annual Christmas Party last night at New York City’s Ace of Clubs. BuzzUniverse’s ‘NYC Jingle Jam 2008’ featured some of the group’s alumni with Greg Merritt and Keith Giordano appearing for a few songs on guitar and percussion respectively. Towards the end of the first set Jason Crosby (who recently departed Robert Randolph & The Family Band) added violin to a rendition of Marshall Tucker Band’s ‘This Ol Cowboy’ and the BuzzUniverse original, ‘Earth is Moving.’ Later, midway through the second set, former ulu drummer Josh Dion stepped up to sing Grand Funk Railroad’s ‘I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home’ and remained for The Band’s ‘Up on Cripple Creek,’ sharing vocals with BuzzUniverse drummer Dave Migliore.

BuzzUniverse next appears at the Fire in Philadelphia on Saturday night, while the Jason Crosby Band is at NYC’s Sullivan Hall on Friday, December 19 and The Josh Dion Band performs at Boston’s Paradise Rock Club on Saturday, December 20.
