In February, Bill Kreutzmann will hit the road for another run of shows with Oteil Burbridge and Scott Murawski. The trio will focus mostly on markets the three musicians have yet to hit together and are expected to offer a mix of Grateful Dead originals and new compositions co-written with lyricist Robert Hunter. As of press time, the trios confirmed gigs include stops at Santa Cruz, CAs Moe’s Alley (2/12), San Franciscos Independent (2/13), Eureka, CAs The Eureka Theater (2/14), Denvers The Bluebird Theater (2/20) and Boulders Fox Theatre (2/21).

As we mentioned last week, Kreutzmann will also play a few shows in Maui before 2009.
The drummers New Year’s Run will begin on December 29 at his local music spot (and
Willie Nelson’s favorite hang) Charley’s Restaurant on Maui’s North Shore. The New
Year’s Eve celebration will then move just east along the Hana Highway to Voyage East in the Pauwela Cannery. For December 31, fans should expect unannounced special guests, Kit Kat Club exotic dancers a nd a late night deejay set by P.O.R.T.A.L. Plus, finishing show touches such as venue decor by ‘A century in review’, designs of the decades from Wings Hawaii Girls, and Repast Pupu’s by Cloud Nine catering from 10 PM to midnight.

Another Story of Al and Diane

Diane Schnier has readied her next studio album, The Fool. According to the multi-instrumentalist, The Fool is a diverse instrumental project, containing 14 original songs, with piano as the common thread. Some of the other sounds that come and go throughout the album come from electric sitar, harmonica, drums, beats, mandolin, banjo, bells, trumpet, acoustic & electric guitar, bass, moog, melotron, farfisa, solina, optigan, carrillon, B3 & a tel ray toxic oil can.
