The Flaming Lips and moe. will anchor the Green Apple Festivals flagship Earth Day event on April 19. The free event will take place this coming Sunday on Washington, DCs The National Mall, also featuring Los Lobos, DJ Spooky and the Howard University Drummers and the Joy of Motion Dance Centers teen hip hop company, Urban Impact. In addition, Kathleen Rogers (President of Earth Day Network), actor Matthew Modine, Dr. Amy Vedder (Senior Vice President, Wilderness Society), Congressman Edward Markey and members of the the League of Conservation Voters will speak at the afternoon festival. Chevy Chase will serve as the events emcee.

As previously reported, Green Apple will host free thank you concerts in cities across the country for Earth Day volunteers. Galactic, Deep Banana Blackout, Bassnectar, Cracker and Travis Tritt are among the acts scheduled to play the special concert series.
