The Beastie Boys have been forced to cancel all upcoming tour dates and push back their new album release due to band member Adam MCA Yauch being diagnosed with cancer last week. Yauch was diagnosed as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland. As he tells fans in a video posted to their website, the cancer is localized and very treatable, but treatment cannot be put off until after these shows. He will need surgery next week followed by radiation in the weeks to follow. Yauch apologized to fans that were planning on coming to the upcoming shows, but assures us that his voice will not be affected and they will be back when they can.

Included in these upcoming shows were headlining appearances at All Points West Music and Arts Festival at Liberty State Park in New Jersey on Friday July 31 and Outside Lands at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on August 30. Posted on the APW website this morning was this message for fans: Yes sadly Beastie Boys cancel. Please sit tight while we make new arrangements. Report by Kevin Hunter
