Original Return to Forever members Chick Corea, Bill Connors, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White will reunite for one night only on September 2 at Los Angeles Hollywood Bowl. This gig marks the first performance by the original RTF electric lineup since 1974 (though various incarnations of the group have toured over the years). The unique concert, which kicks off Corea, Clarke, and Whites first worldwide tour as a trio, will also include guest appearances by vocal legend Chaka Khan and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. Also appearing at the Hollywood Bowl will be guitarist John Scofield and the Piety Street Band.

Both Khan and Ponty have a history of collaboration with Corea. Khan was featured on the 1982 album Echoes of an Era, which included Clarke and White as well as tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson and trumpeter Freddie Hubbard. Ponty contributed to Coreas 1976 project My Spanish Heart in addition to Calrkes 1995 album Rite of Strings.
The reunited Return to Forever lineup is expected to revive classic RTF material including Space Circus, Captain SeMouse, and Spain. Stops on the first leg of the tour include the Detroit International Jazz Festival, a three night run at the Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant in Minneapolis, MN, and the Monterey Jazz Festival. Leg two will take the trio overseas starting at the Grand Rex in Paris in addition to a series of jazz festivals in France, Romania, and Slovenia.
