Last weekend marked the two year anniversary for the Canoe Club, a cozy restaurant/venue outside of Kansas City, MO’s Lake Lotawana.

Thursday evening Big Man’s Gold kicked off the festivities to the flip flop clad, hometown crowd. The Kansas City based trio consists of Particle bassist Eric Gould, guitarist Lucas Bingham, and drummer / co-owner of the Canoe Club, Andy Manz.

Friday night Tea Leaf Green guitarist Josh Clark ducked in along with sax guru Pete Wall (White Water Ramble, Counter Clarkwise, Particle) to join Gould, Bingham and Manz for two sets of music that included originals from BMG, Clark, and Wall. The Quintet also ran through several covers including Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold,” Herbie Hancock’s “Chameleon” , Allman Brothers “One Way Out” and Ben Harper’s “Bring The Funk”.

The weekend came to a close Saturday night at the Canoe Club with Lyon’s CO’s rising bluegrass stars Spring Creek closing the three-day celebration. Meanwhile that night Gould, Clark and Wall traveled to the eastern part of the state to join Particle for their headlining slot at the first annual Green Mountain Eco Fest on the Niangua River in Eldridge, MO.
