Steel Train previewed material from its new self-titled album with a showcase at New York’s Mercury Lounge last night. The quintet played six songs off the new disc during its hour-long set and debuted two of the album’s tracks: “You are Dangerous” and “Behavior.” In addition, the New Jersey-bred group nodded to two other bands with Garden State roots by covering Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” and teasing Phish’s “Down with Disease” during “S.O.G Burning in Hell.” Holly Miranda guitarist Timmy Mislock and Meowskers drummer Jeff Neuberger also joined in on percussion during a brief jam at the end of the night.

Steel Train is set for release on June 29. The group will appear in Pontiac, MI tomorrow.
