Bob Weir and Justin Bieber Collaborate?

Back in 1999, Bob Weir brought out the members of Hanson to join him during a performance at Wetlands Preserve. Well, perhaps there is another teen pop guest appearance on the horizon, as evidenced by the above photo posted by Weir to his Twitter account earlier today. We have no other information beyond the fact that four hours ago Bieber posted to his Twitter, “BIG DAY today…excited. doing something new.” So stay tuned as we report what transpired (and try not to let your anxiety get the best of you).

Cosmichustle, you speak the truth. Yes, it is true that both Bobby and Mickey are confirmed members of Bohemian Grove, which is going on right now. “Hart bunks in the Hillbillies Camp with George Bush Sr. and Donald Rumsfeld and Weir resides in Rattlers Camp.” You can youtube the film “Dark Secrets Inside Bohemian Grove” if you are uninformed on what this elite festival is all about. Be aware, you will likely be disgusted by what you learn. Unless you think it’s acceptable for many of the country’s ruling elite to spend two weeks a year performing dark occultic rituals, dressing up like women and having sex with male porn stars. The all mens club that consists mainly of prominent Republicans meets for two weeks every July in Northern California. Would not be surprised if Bobby wants to collaborate with Justin in more ways than one.

This is a good thing. They should do shows together to turn abunch of teenyboppers on to real music. I see no negatives in this. Music is one of the absolute truths in the universe. Exposing young kids to the open ended dialogue of Dead-like music is always a very good thing.

Wisdom appears in contradiction to itself, which is a trick life plays on philosophy of life.

St Alfongzo December 20, 2010, 14:13:49

This is not a shopped photo or a 1 off meeting. On off the previous posters is correct Weir has Daughters that are beebs fans just like my daughter. My wife got a picture with Bobby at the beebs show in Oakland and then saw him again in San Jose. Furthermore Beebs guitarist Dan Cantor is a HUGE Dead/Phish Phan. Just because they do the pop thing doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate other music.

cosmichustle January 6, 2011, 16:17:55

Wow, all the “Dead Head” Bob Weir nut huggers really came to bat for him on this one. Here is a great quote, “This kid plays 4 or 5 instruments fluently already and he’s only – what? 16 years old.” Haha, are you serious? Please post that on quote on a Justin Beiber YouTube video. We don’t know why this picture was taken or if they are collaborating, but you guys would say Lady Gaga is a musical genius if Bob announced he was going to play with her. It is blatantly clear that Bobby boy is rubbing elbows with the global elite in the Bohemian Grove http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/abraham/detail?entry_id=67666. The “Dead Head” counter culture is a fraud. Sorry guys.

Emzeth` January 9, 2011, 15:20:48

Emzeth January 9, 2011, 15:22:07

hha, justin. you just “confirm his bisexuality” on the twitter trending topics. hha…

Ron Mexico July 24, 2010, 00:25:23

KK July 24, 2010, 02:09:13

Awful!

Todd July 24, 2010, 03:29:17

Bieb-Weir’d?

Jeffrey Phelps July 24, 2010, 13:14:46

Why Weir’d and awful? Geez, I listened to 1910 Fruitgum Company and The Buckinghams before I got turned on to Bobby and the boys. Why not let the kid get hooked in DIRECTLY? Just sayin’...

Adam Hobson July 24, 2010, 14:03:49

This is terrible terrible news, I will now be throwing away my ratdog shirt and cd

Jamie July 24, 2010, 15:18:57

Makes me want to throw up

Taco Joe July 24, 2010, 15:26:32

My 12 yr old likes this no talent punk!!!! So it will be now Bobby Bobby no oh Bobby Bobby no!!!!!

Silasio July 24, 2010, 16:04:39

@Adam Hobson- What made you buy a Ratdog CD or t-shirt in the first place? They’re Bobby at his worst!

chunk July 24, 2010, 16:41:37

Horrible. Vomit. Puke. Bad idea Bobby. I guess being old makes you more succeptable to bieber fever?

B to the O July 24, 2010, 16:43:55

did anyone stop and think…“geez bobby’s got 2 daughters in the same age bracket as all the little fans that justin has” dont bust the guys balls

Tickledrop July 24, 2010, 17:31:51

Hey Talent Joe. Let’s see you sing. Just sayin’.

Rob Wolfson July 24, 2010, 17:34:03

Scary that anyone could think that Weir’s entire value as an artist could be nullified by him taking a photo with this kid. “Bad idea”? What? Did it ever occur to y’all that JB posing with Weir could result in a few more kids getting curious about the GD? Don’t be so shallow – judge the man on his 45 years of incredible music, not who he gets his photo snapped with!

St Stephen July 24, 2010, 18:10:47

Bobby….really? Well whatever. You are certainly open minded. I have to say, you really mix it up don’t you?

Weirgarcia July 24, 2010, 18:59:20

Fuck em’ if they can’t take a joke.

lien0569 July 24, 2010, 20:27:33

>>>>Fuck em’ if they can’t take a joke. +1 geez, most folks these dayz wouldn’t last ten minutes in prankster era GD. Just sayin . . .

mindbender July 24, 2010, 20:32:24

its just Bobby poking fun at all the up-tight, cranky old Deadheads that lost their ability to take a joke. Lighten’ up people, Heads are so damn serious about everything nowadays. Sign of age?

Anne Pennea July 24, 2010, 20:45:37

I THINK IT GREAT FOR THE NEW GENERATION OF MUSICIAN ‘S TO GET A THUMBS UP FROM BOB . HI BOB

tom johnson July 25, 2010, 00:14:57

Photoshopped

Lighten Up July 25, 2010, 03:02:21

Weir’s just showing his Grateful Dead sense of humor. Lighten up folks. I agree with Mindbender above- crotchety Dead Heads. It’s a joke people!

Cole July 25, 2010, 03:50:37

I like it when Bob does what he wants to do…on record and on stage. Just listen. The radio has two dials. One of them turns the channel, the other turns it off. Imagine that.

derf July 25, 2010, 05:25:53

I’d rather hear Justin sing ‘Eyes’ than Phil.
All love to Phil but come on….‘Eyes’

Jugband Jigalo July 25, 2010, 13:25:05

You all need to just chill the f*ck out. Stop bitch*ng all the time. You all suck at life and wish you could be as cool as Bob Weir or Justin Beiber. Losers.

Ruben Kincaid July 25, 2010, 15:01:40

what is with Bobby and teen boyz?
lol.
ok, maybe they will do a remake of “Easy To Slip”

HPE July 25, 2010, 15:05:33

honestly this doesn’t bother me in the way some of these “jam bands” have co-opted Grateful Dead culture & music with their awful covers & terrible party animal drugging crowds.
Grateful Dead is wondrous stuff & this dude is a harmless little pop tart.
Kinda funny but doesn’t make me wanna vomit !

Suckie McSuck July 26, 2010, 00:05:06

“terrible party animal drugging crowds.” Yeah, I never saw anyone partying or taking drugs at Dead shows. It was a crowd of very serious teetotalers.

CashCrowe July 26, 2010, 01:59:55

Y’know what? Cool. Who better than Bob Weir to show this kid what real music is all about.

Liveyoursong July 26, 2010, 15:48:02

Ruben Kincaid Didn’t you used to manage another family on an different bus? (~);}

PK July 26, 2010, 18:30:46

Weir’s probably trying to do something nice for his own kids. This Justin Bieber looks like the type that will mature into a very creepy looking man, so let’s let him enjoy his brief time in the spotlight.

B to the O July 27, 2010, 00:11:20

http://www.jambands.com/news/2010/07/26/bob-weir-to-play-with-the-marin-symphony-not-justin-bieber/ i was right

ed the head July 28, 2010, 02:00:10

some help for bobby on the …..ha’s !!!.....during estimated ….which he can’t vocally reach anymore !!!.......as long as he doesn’t try to sing the dew instead john k…..i think we’ll be ok !!!....” no time to hate “

Matt M. Arlington, VA July 28, 2010, 14:59:01

This is a hilarious photo! Note Bobby’s silly and comical expression. He’s obviously just having fun in the moment with this kid.
This is a random photo op with a pop celebrity who wanted to get close to a jamband legend. Was Bobby supposed to turn down the kids request for a photo? Not Weirs style I bet. Hopefully some of Bobbys aura rubs off on the kid and his future work. Weir is a goofball and a nice guy and clearly saw some humor in this and indulged his adulation to a minor degree. You go Bobby!

Dimiah July 30, 2010, 13:00:52

Maybe Bieber just showed up at a charity meet and greet before a show and took a photo. Hey Bobby seemed like he was dosed the other night at the Nokia, ya never know (“my best friend didn’t tell what it was that I dropped”)

jaquestraw August 3, 2010, 00:09:41

maybe Bieber should/will get cast as the 14 year old Bobby in the upcoming Jerry movie which focuses on Jerry’s life up until his teens. The resemblence is there sorta

David NAthans August 6, 2010, 21:07:53

I think its cool. Im a deadhead with 10 and 11 year old daughters. We had crap pop to get us introduced to music in our day too. Reaching out is what they do. If it’s a problem for you then wow…REALLY!

Jack Brahw August 9, 2010, 19:11:27

This just in Justin Bieber is taking John’s spot in Furthur.

MPL August 10, 2010, 03:03:32

Im guessing Bobby’s daughters are fans of Justin which makes sense, really no big deal, good for them…

Benjamin Heckscher August 18, 2010, 12:59:00

Weir played with Hanson, made a music video with a young band as part of the John Lennon music project, and now he’s going to do something with Justin Bieber. So? Good for him. I don’t see this as an endorsement of the music business, or over-produced pop, or promotion replacing talent. Maybe he feels some kinship with young kids getting into music (he was only 16 when he joined Mother McCree’s). I know he feels that fewer and fewer people are getting into music, so why not help out?
PS to the guy who is going to get rid of his “ratdog shirt and cd:” so long. We’ll miss you.

Norcal DedHed August 18, 2010, 14:40:10

Bobby took his daughter to the show…

Bernadine23Wyatt September 26, 2010, 05:53:42

In the beginning, I started to look through your article and did not trust that could be so fantastic. Last time I looked at the buy term papers of such quality. I thought that only the business writing services could perform the professional buy term papers.

rebecca October 19, 2010, 22:18:46

Why not give the kid a chance to find himself…you people cant think for yourselves. you go by what your “scene” says is cool. SO this kid has writers and people directing him towards this teenybopper audience. Let the kid try something new. If yohad some awful phase and the people around you didnt accept and laugh about it later, you would be stuck a sad little pathetic unhappy person. Give the kids a chance. did it ever occur to you that maybe hes unhappy with his music. let the boy express himself.

Benjamin Heckscher, www.growned.com November 12, 2010, 21:44:46

Very nice , let us see what happens.

obert November 17, 2010, 12:26:42

This kid plays 4 or 5 instruments fluently already and he’s only – what? 16 years old. Just because the record label has decided they can make a crapload of money off of saturating america with him doesn’t somehow negate the fact that he’s brimming with natural musical talent. Shame on anybody who thinks its a BAD thing that someone this talented could be getting involved with people who might turn that talent towards the forces of good instead of evil.

Phil November 23, 2010, 20:06:11

someone dose Bieber!

Clare December 7, 2010, 09:29:36
