After a day in which the band members performed with their side project, the String Cheese Incident finally took the stage at Horning’s Hideout on Friday. The group opened with “Smile,” during a first set that included “Sometimes A River,” “Born On The Wrong Planet” and a closing version of “Miss Brown’s Teahouse” with the Soul Rebels Brass Band. The Soul Rebels later returned at the close of evening, appearing on SCI’s “Hey Pocky Way” encore. Prior to then, the second set included takes on “Black and White,” a move from “Bend Down Low” into “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and a run from “Dirk” into “Jungle Boogie” and back into “Dirk.”

Elsewhere around the site on Friday: Mountain Girl and John Barlow led a discussion on parenting and being parents at festivals, Chris Berry appeared percussion with Toubab Krewe during a percussion jam, Bill Nershi played a duo set with Scott Law (and later name checked him on stage as the co-author of “Song In My Head,” which SCI performed in the second set) and Lynx joined Beats Antique during its late night theatrical set
