Phish returned to Wantagh, NY’s Jones Beach last night for the penultimate show of its summer tour. The show opened with “Fluffhead” and featured several heavy hitters in its first set: Talking Heads’ “Cities,” Son Seals’ “Funky Bitch,” “Wilson,” “Reba,” “Wolfman’s Brother” and” Possum.” Trey Anastasio played a small toy guitar that utilized a loop effect during part of “Wilson.”

The band’s second set opened with Jon Fishman singing his “Lengthwise” over the intro to “Maze.” The group displayed its new, clean high energy style of improvisation throughout the rest of the set, moving from “Halley’s Comet” into “Mike’s Song,” “Simple,” “Backwards Down the Number Line,” “Prince Caspian,” “Rock and Roll” and “Weekapaug Groove.” The group also returned to the “Maze” theme briefly and teased the Beatles’” Norwegian Wood.” Phish will return to Jones Beach tonight.
