Charl’s Handijam for Handicapped, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that serves the terminally ill, mentally, physically and emotionally challenged in Staten Island. The organization will raise money for its efforts via four shows that will take place later this week. The line-up for these performances includes the David Nelson Band (which features Nelson, John Molo, Barry Sless and Mookie Siegel), Moonalice, Big Brother And The Holding Company, Ronnie Penque Band and Counterfeit Cowboy Band. The first of these benefit performances will take place on Thursday the 23rd at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ. It will be followed by a Friday gig at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ, a Saturday show at The Barn at Kaplan’s Farm in Millerton, NY and a Sunday performance at The Ukrainian Church in Whippany, NJ. Handijam’s “main purpose is to provide entertainment for those who get only their basic necessities met. Through local and national bands, Handijam raises funds for outings to such places as Great Adventure, WWE Wrestling events, Staten Island Yankees games, the New York Aquarium and the Bronx Zoo.”
